The main body of this work is needle-felted wool fibres, embellished with hand embroidered wool yarn using simple stitches. Straight stitch, chain stitch, couching stitch, a combination of French knots and Bullion stitch with a little free styling in places.
The wool embroidery is part decoration and part containment with the couched power cord components acting as shepherds herding the fibres into the desired shapes. But still stray fibres peer out from behind the wool yarn embroidery and look to escape the couched recycled material outlines.
The natural spring in wool fibre means the fibres are never fully controlled and in this piece are allowed to pop out and blend with neighbouring areas.
